Burial

Burial is the predominant form of disposition (the final placement of a loved one’s remains) in this region of the country. You may choose between interring and entombing the body.

Interring the body
Interring the body means burying it in the earth. Typically you would select a casket, a cemetery space, and a marker such as a headstone or monument. A burial vault or outer burial container may be required for cemetery interment.

Entombing the body
Some people prefer above-ground burial in a mausoleum. Although entombment is more common in other parts of the country, some cemeteries in this area do offer mausoleums.

Ceremonies for Burial
A burial may be accompanied by a wide variety of ceremonies to commemorate the life of the deceased and provide opportunities for friends and families to gather, remember and comfort one another. Visitations, funerals, and graveside services are the most common services—but their form and content is entirely up to you. You can see our Visitation and Life Celebration Services here

At Hamlett-Dobson, we have nearly 100 years of experience to help us work with you to plan and customize these ceremonies to your needs. Contact us to find out more about the many options available to you.
