Cremation is a means of disposition (final placement of a loved one’s remains) which reduces the body to ash. The ashes may then be buried, scattered, entombed or kept in an urn (a combination of these is also possible).
Trusting in a private, family-owned crematory
Although all funeral homes offer cremation services, most use off-site, industrial crematories. Not at Hamlett-Dobson. We are the only Kingsport-area firm that owns and operates our own crematory.
At Hamlett-Dobson, your loved one is being cared for by our professional staff from the moment you contact us, and this care continues through the entire cremation process. We maintain state-of-the-art equipment in an impeccably clean facility and observe strict procedures that ensure the highest standards of care.
Families are welcome to be present at the Hamlett-Dobson crematory during any part of the cremation process.
Ceremonies for Cremation
Saying farewell is what matters most, and cremation offers as many opportunities for services and ceremonies as burial. You can see our Visitation and Life Celebration Services here.
A visitation for family and friends, with or without the presence of the body, a funeral or memorial service, and/or an ash scattering service are all wonderful opportunities to gather, remember and celebrate the life of the deceased. The style of service is up to you—and is only limited by your imagination.
At Hamlett-Dobson, we know that ceremonies are important for healing and closure. We also respect the uniqueness of each and every situation. Let us help you create the farewell experiences that are just right for you.
