Arthur Robinette

Arthur Gene Robinette, 68, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Born in Wise County, Virginia on October 23, 1945, a son of the late R.C. and Oshea Robinette Guy, he had resided in this area most of his life. Arthur was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army and retired from Ti-City Grading. He was a member of Oak Glen Baptist Church. He will be remembered as a loving dad, papaw, brother and friend who loved to fish and sight-seeing.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 36 years, Brenda Bishop Robinette in 2011 and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Daniel and Gladys Bishop.

Arthur is survived by his daughter, Vicky Robinette and fiancé, Raymond Vanderpool of Kingsport; stepchildren of 38 years, Michael Amyx of Savannah, GA, Kawana Barbour and husband, Rusty of Fall Branch, and Kermit Amyx of Kingsport; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Guy and wife, Barbara, Alfred Guy and Roger Guy, all of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and his pets, Blackie, Princess, Lady, Prince and Sassy. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Danny Sykes and to the doctors and staff with Mountain State Health Alliance for the care Arthur was given.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating. Music will be provided by the Oak Glen Singers.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 pm in Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military rights will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Roger Guy, Alfred Guy, Billy Jackson, Kermit Amyx, Wayne Greer, Rusty Barbour, Clyde Guy and Raymond Vanderpool. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Amyx, Jordan Stanley, Ricky Necessary and David Booker III.
