Benny Colyer

Robert "Benny" Colyer, Jr., 62, of Johnson City, departed this life on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born in Johnson City on August 31, 1952, son of the late Bob and Jean Colyer, he had resided in this area most of his life. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted dad, papaw, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Colyer in 1991.

Benny is survived by his two daughters, Tiffany Faxon and husband, Scott of Kingsport, and Patricia "Amber" Colyer of Johnson City; step-son, Jeremiah Lovelady of Johnson City; nine grandchildren, Spencer Faxon, Daizy Faxon, Finley Hauldren, Aidah Dalrymple, Rowyn Blevins, DJ Dalrymple, Caleb Denters, Gage Lovelady and Reese Lovelady; two cousins, Bill Reed and Becky Morton; two aunts, Alice Harvey and Charlotte Hughes; and special friends, Robert Fagens, Mark McCrary, Debbra "Tacobender" Krueger and Lattie Dockery.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Brother Ricky Potter officiating.

The family has requested only floral arrangements that can be planted be contributed.
