Beverly Nelson McGinnis

Beverly Nelson McGinnis, 79, of Kingsport passed away peacefully following an extended illness on Saturday, July 26, 2014. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State College. Beverly retired from teaching in the Kingsport school system from Ross N. Robinson Middle School where she taught sixth grade. She also was a teacher at Andrew Johnson Elementary School. Beverly was a member of Colonial Heights Christian Church where she volunteered at the food pantry, along with volunteering at the food pantry at First Christian Church.

Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mildred Nelson and husband Gary McGinnis.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff McGinnis and wife, Lesley of Dallas, TX, Mike McGinnis and wife, Julie of Seymour, TN; grandchildren, Danielle Dovalina, Sydney McGinnis, Derrick Jenkins, Tiffany Martin and Victoria Jenkins; five great grandchildren; brother-in-law Fred "Butch" Saylor; sister-in-law Toni Evans and several beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Colonial Heights Christian Church. A service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with Minister Phil Roberts officiating. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park.
