Edith June Godsey, 89, Kingsport, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Holston Manor Nursing Facility.
She was a secretary at Tennessee Eastman for a number of years. She later worked as a dental assistant, and worked in retail at Tots 'N Teens, and a shoe store. She was a member of First Church of God.
Mrs. Godsey was preceded in death by her parents, William Ernest and Margaret Humphries; husband, James H. Godsey, Sr. (a World War II veteran); daughter, Janeen Carty.
She is survived by her son, MSG. James H. Godsey, Jr., USA (ret.) and wife, Katherine of Sterling, VA; daughter, Candice (Candy) Sturgill of Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Justin Godsey, of Sterling, VA, Carly Dougherty, of Kingsport, TN, James Sturgill, of CA, and Colt Carty, of CA; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Megan, and Serena; brother, Col. Gene Humphries, USA (ret.) and wife, Annette of Nashville, TN; nieces, Dr. Hope Caperton-Brown of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gail Caperton, of TX, Mrs. Kelly Lott (Gina Humphries) of Kingsport, Jon Humphries of Woodland Hills, CA; and former
sister-in-law, Eleanor Humphries of Kingsport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association,

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 pm on Tuesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 1 pm with Adam Carlson officiating.
Entombment will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
