Edward "Ed" J. Hyder

Edward "Ed" J. Hyder, 81, Kingsport, passed away Monday afternoon, October 28, 2013 following an extended illness. Ed had been a resident of Kingsport since his early childhood. He retired from Eastman after 42 years of service, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of MENSA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. and Lula Mays Hyder.

Ed is survived by daughter, Vicky Hatfield and husband, Jerry of Kingsport; two sisters, Emma Lou "Sis" Hyder Dobbins and husband, Dan of Medford, NY, and Sue Hyder Castle of Kingsport; brother, Luther Ray Hyder and wife, Susie of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; friends, Jerry McClain of Nashville, TN and Richard Moore of Kingsport; and a special thanks to Tammy Winters.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Robert Russell officiating.
