Elsie Louise Carey, 83, of Church Hill, Tennessee, formerly of Bellville, Texas passed away October 8, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM on October 13, 2014 at the Mountain Home National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Hamlett-Dobson in Kingsport, TN. Elsie was born in East Greenwich, Rhode Island to Viola May Kitchen and Fredrick Lee Matteson on May 25, 1931.

In Bellville, Elsie worked as a hospital and nursing home licensed vocational nurse, clinical instructor for Blinn College, and home health nurse for Concepts of Care of Brenham, Texas. She was a member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church, long-time member of the Lady's Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 115, and VFW Post 6522. She enjoyed the Texas wildflowers, tending her vegetable and flower gardens while sharing them with family and friends. She actively participated in the local events and enjoyed entering and judging the home and flower divisions of the Austin County Fair. Elsie was married to Charles W. Their two daughters and sons-in-law, Tami and Richard Kretz of Church Hill, Tennessee, Pam and Gary Willson of Dripping Springs, Texas, and three grandchildren, Laura, Sarah, and Phillip Pinell of Tennessee survive her. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Raymond Carey.

In lieu of memorial as per Elsie: live plants are preferred or donations may be given to the Lady's Auxiliaries of Bellville. The family of Elsie Carey wishes to thank our extended family and friends for their prayers and many acts of kindness.
