Emma "Polly" Rhea Parker Price

Emma Rhea "Polly" Parker Price passed away on Sunday July 13, 2014 in Kingsport, TN.

Emma Rhea "Polly" Parker Price was born in Hawkins County on March 13, 1922. She lived and worked most of her life in Kingsport. She enjoyed traveling, loved her family and loved flowers.

An aunt gave Emma Rhea the pet name "Polly" when she was a toddler and it remained with her throughout her life. Polly was employed at Tennessee Eastman Company for over 40 years working in the yarn plant, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and also a member of Laura Thompson Circle. Spending time with family and friends was her passion. Attending gospel singing events, taking bus touring trips with friends and church members were a big part of her life. She also enjoyed flying abroad.

She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Price; parents Burlie Arnold Parker and William Oscar Parker, Sr.; brothers William (Bill) Parker, Jr., James E. Parker, Charles B. Parker, John Robert Parker and late sisters Helen Parker and Mary Frances Parker.

Survivors include her brothers Fred (Jo Ann) Parker, Jack (Darlene) Parker; sisters Margaret Gray, Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Ruth (Larry) Dexter, Sandra (Lucian) Lawson; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11 am - 1 pm on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Service will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Homer Roller and Rev. Jared Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery, Mt. Carmel, TN.

Pallbearers will be Jim Dixon, Fred Crabtree, Tommy Blakely, Mack Pyle, Stephen Dexter, Ken Breeding, Sr., Wyndall Smith and Phil Elam.
