James Garfield Light

James Garfield Light, 81, of Kingsport, died on March 4, 2015. He was born on April 19, 1933. Garfield worked for the Sullivan County Highway Department for 33 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orgie and Creasie Cavin Light; brothers, Chester, Reece and Roosevelt Light; and sisters, Bertha Goad, Nellie Smith, Kathleen Simpson, Geneva and Joyce Light.

Garfield is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mable Light; daughters, Sharon (Glen) Light, Deanna (Vernon) Goad, and Lesia (Larry) Jobe; son, Eddie (Connie) Light; grandchildren, Brian (Donna) Light, Jessica McDavid, Chuck (Cheyenne) Jobe, Brandon (Tamara) Jobe, Sheri (Brent) Davis, and Shasta Light; and great-grandchildren, Mercedes, Morgan, Dylan, Haley, Blake, Ireland, Taylor, Annie, Hunter and Alli; two sisters, Clarie Dykes and Margie Ramey; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12-2:00 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Brother Dan Dolen officiating. Burial will follow the service in Morrison Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brian Light, Chuck Jobe, Brandon Jobe, Larry Jobe, Glen Light and Vernon Goad. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessica McDavid, Sheri Davis and Shasta Light.
