Marie Smith Shipley

Marie Smith Shipley, 86, of Kingsport, died July 24, 2015. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. Marie was a member of Vernon Heights Baptist Church and she dearly loved her church family. She enjoyed baking, laughing, and fellowship with friends. Marie loved The Lord.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Birdsie Shipley; her parents, Bertie and William "Bill" Smith; brother, Joe Roy Smith; sister, Mary Lee Smith; and special cousin, Francis Patterson

Marie is survived by her son; Larry Shipley of Kingsport; daughter, Linda Shipley of Nashville; grandson, Brandon Shipley and wife, Tiffany of Kingsport; brother-in-laws, Chester Shipley and wife, Bernice, and Clarence Shipley; sister-in-laws, Helen Smith and Blanche Shipley; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor Michael Anglin officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be R.J. Duncan, Johnny Travis, Henry Lawson, Richard Bourn, Gary Morelock, her nephews, and Deacons of Vernon Heights Baptist Church.
