Peggy A. Cleary

Peggy A. Cleary, 84, of Kingsport, passed away late Sunday evening, July 13, 2014, at her home following an extended illness. Peggy was born in Toms Creek, Virginia and came to Kingsport in 1945. She was an employee at Nettie Lee Ladies Shop. Peggy was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was known for her cooking, especially her rolls and sweet tea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Cleary, parents, Frank and Myrtle Sword, and brothers, Sidney and Lester Sword.

Peggy is survived by sister, Joy Baker of Kingsport; children, Dana Sanders, Dennis Cleary and wife, Cheryl, Jonathan Cleary and special friend, Sherrie Easterling, and Mary Martha Triplett and husband, Toby, all of Kingsport; 7 grandsons, Jason Sanders, Kevin Sanders, Trevis Cleary, Matthew Cleary, Colin Cleary, Myles Triplett and Rafferty Cleary; and 4 great-granddaughters, Addie Sanders, Ellie Sanders, Rylie Sanders and Remmy Sanders.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Wayne Baker and Rev. Susan Arnold officiating.

A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sanders, Kevin Sanders, Trevis Cleary, Matthew Cleary, Colin Cleary, Myles Triplett and Rafferty Cleary. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Byrd.
