Ronald W. Light
Ronald W. Light, Sr., of Church Hill, TN, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday January 8, 2012, after a brief illness.
He retired from Westmoreland Coal Company in Big Stone Gap, VA with more than 24 years service and was a member of UMWA. He also retired from Joy Mining Machinery in Duffield, VA, with over 10 years service.
Preceding him in death were his parents, William R. Light, Sr. and Polly Carter Light; and brothers, William R. Light, Jr. and Eugene Light.
Ron is survived by his wife, Leslie N. Light of the home; his daughter Melissa and husband, Dustin Gregory; son, Ron Jr. and wife, Caroline; brothers, Jack E. Light and wife, Ima, Robert Light and wife, Crystal; four grandchildren Bailie and Kiersan Light and Sally and Whitney Gregory; and, many nieces and nephews.
Ron was a gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather who was a great family leader. He will be greatly missed and remembered.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Pastor George "Buddy" Osborne officiating.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Erwin, TN on Thursday, January 12, at 11 a.m.
