Stanley Kilgore

Stanley Kilgore, 71, Church Hill, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Kingsport on June 25, 1944, a son of the late Henry Kilgore, Sr., and Mae Kilgore, he had resided in this area his entire life. He was of the Nazarene faith. Mr. Kilgore had been employed by AFG.

He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Dad, Papaw & friend who enjoyed his time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Kilgore was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy Kilgore of the home; one son, Stanley Kilgore and wife, Melissa of Hiltons, VA; one daughter, Tammy Munsey and husband, Garry of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Clayton Overbay, James Overbay, and Whitney Rohr and husband, Jeb; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. John Hale officiating and special music by the Carter Family.

The graveside service will be on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Bellamy-Jones Cemetery, East Carters Valley Road, Gate City, VA 24251.

Pallbearers will be Clayton Overbay, James Overbay, David Kilgore, Junior Kilgore, Gary Kilgore, and Doug Kilgore. Bobby Gilliam will serve as honorary pallbearer.
