Morgan “Bill” Trent, 84, of Blountville, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center. Born in Rose Hill, VA on January 7, 1935, son of the late Bedford and Otie Trent, he had resided in this area most of his life. He graduated from Blountville High School in 1954. Bill married Velma Lee Fugate on November 9, 1968 in Kingsport. He was a Veteran having served in the US Navy, being stationed in Cuba. Bill retired from Mead Corp in 1994 following 28 years of service. He was an avid coon hunter and will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, daddy, papaw, brother and friend who loved to farm and Central Cougars basketball.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Gene Trent, sister, Ferne Matlock and stepson, Michael Campbell.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Velma; daughter, Billie Jean Nunn and husband, David of Blountville; step-daughter, Carolyn Easley of Kingsport; stepson, Billy Ray Campbell and wife, Viola of Kingsport; his pride and joy, grandson, Nathaniel Leonard; sisters, Louise Morrison and Mary Ruth Nothnagel, both of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bill Chapman, Randy Stiltner.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm in the chapel with Bro. Hobart Bradshaw officiating. Special music will be provided by Hobart and Betty Bradshaw.
Burial will follow committal services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday in Gunnings Cemetery. Flag presentation will be by The American Legion, Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265. Those attending committal services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:00 pm on Wednesday and then proceed to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joey Moody, Bill Chapman, Clarence Strickler, Scott Fleenor, Billy Ray Campbell and David Nunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Carter and Nathan Leonard.
