Martha Childress

Martha Childress, 81, Kingsport, passed away at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

She resided in Sullivan Gardens practically all of her life and was a 1954 graduate of Sullivan High School. Martha was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church for most of her life.

Martha is survived by her husband of 60 years, Carl T. Childress, Kingsport; daughters, Carla Childress and partner, Julie Eldridge, Kingsport, Alice Crowley and husband, Artell, Nantucket, MA, and Dottie Stump and husband, Mark, Johnson City, TN; two grandchildren, Zachary Stump and Hannah Stump; sister, Dot Burgess Holmes, Kingsport; and niece, Evelyn Thrasher and husband, Mark, Bowling Green, KY.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Richie Hayes officiating.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Fred Steadman, Eddie Williams, Gordon Zollman, Tom Zollman, Paul Chapman, Artell Crowley, Mark Stump, and Zachary Stump.
