Sam Hall

Sam Hall, 99, of Kingsport, passed away Monday, August 20, 2018. Born in Fall Branch, TN, to Sam and Jesse Hall, he graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School and earned a Chemical Engineering Diploma from International Correspondence School and an Accounting Diploma from UT Extension School as well as night school courses in Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, Economics and Statistical Quality Control. He was employed by Eastman Kodak in 1937 where he was a Laboratory Technician, Lab Foreman, Lab Supervisor, and Personnel Representative for the Treasurers Division before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Oakwood Forest Christian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon over the years. He spent his retirement raising cattle on his farm as well as woodworking, auto mechanics, and general handyman projects.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Maree Hall; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Clyde Bond; and brother-in-law, Jay Treadway.
Sam is survived by his daughters, Mary (John) Morris, Susan Hall; son, David (Martha) Hall; sister, Peggy Treadway; granddaughter, Kelly (Mike) Faris; great-grandson, James; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m. with Marlin Jaynes, Minister officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bill Smith, Lon Foxx, David Hall, Scott Treadway, and Jeff McCrary. Honorary Pallbearer will be John Morris.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Oakwood Forest Christian Church, 1713 E. Sevier Ave, Kingsport, TN 37664.
