Allen Ward

Allen Ward, 52, Kingsport, passed away surrounded by family on April 27, 2018 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. He was a 1984 graduate of Sullivan South High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. Allen married the love of his life, Becky Hulshof, on June 15, 1996 in Kingsport.

He was the owner and operator of his family business, Ward's Feed Store, and will be most remembered for his love of the outdoors and a vast knowledge that allowed him to teach others cultivate and care for their plants and animals. There was not a prouder time for Allen than watching his son play football, the sport they both loved. Some of Allen's best qualities were his incredible work ethic, caring heart, love of his family, and compassion for all creatures.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, J.E and Ruth Ward and W.S. (Bill) and Martha King.

Allen is survived by his wife, Becky and son, Garrett Ward, parents, Larry and Martha Ward, sisters, Jeannine Morris and husband, Wes, Sarah Stevens and husband, Bobby, sister-in-law, Maria Conkin and husband, Ray, and three beloved nieces and five nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5-7:00 pm at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Richie Hayes officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Glen Alpine United Methodist Church to help with medical expenses, 3200 Glen Alpine Road., Kingsport, TN 37660.
