Austin Ray Hensley, 74, Kingsport, entered into rest Sunday February 25, 2007 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Kingsport, January 5, 1933, he was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars and was retired from the United States Navy and the United States Post Office.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Laura Hill Hensley.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Juanita Carr Hensley, of Kingsport; four daughters, Vicki Heath and husband Robin, Charleston, SC, Val Dobler and husband Richard, Stanfield, NC, Kim Frketic and husband L.J., Callahan, FL, and Wendy Warren and husband Adam, Woodbridge, VA. He will be deeply missed by his 12 grandchildren and a large number of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives. He is also survived by two brothers, Howard Hensley and Paul Hensley, and one sister, Louise Harrison.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Robin Heath officiating. Burial will follow at Lovelace Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hensley, Joey Dobler, Adam Coleman, Michael Heath, Sammy Dobler, Mark Heath, and Mackenzie Heath.
