Barbara B. Hickman

Barbara B. Hickman, 88, of Colonial Heights, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 11, 2025, at NHC Johnson City following a long, serious illness. She was born in Kingsport on June 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Stuart and Ruby Blalock and has resided in this area most of her life. Barbara was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. She attended East Tennessee State University. Barbara was the owner of Cards, etc..

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Maxwell Hickman and Flo Ella Hickman; daughter, Kimberly McQuire; and grandson, Josh Estes.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Mack Hickman; daughter, Laurie Wright and husband Jeffrey of Johnson City; granddaughter, Ashley McQuire of Spartanburg, SC; great-grandchildren, Patince Ballard of Spartanburg, SC and Kiley Crowder of Kingsport; and special friends, June Mumpower, Helen Taylor, Pastor Chris Brown and Alan and Martha Henderson.

The family would like to thank all the local hospitals nurses and doctors.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport with Rev. Chris Brown and Pastor Michael Lester officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
