Bee Rigby

Blanche ?Bee? Rigby, 98, of Kingsport, died Monday evening, January 29, 2007, at her home.

Mrs. Rigby was a native of La Follette, Tennessee, but in 1943 moved to Kingsport where she resided most of her life. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College where she taught Biology for 13 years. She also graduated from Emory University and had studied at Woodshole Biological Research Center.

Mrs. Rigby was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School classes and served as an Elder. She worked with Girl Scouts of the USA locally and regionally serving on the International Board of Directors. She also helped organize the Women?s Auxiliary of Holston Valley Hospital and the Christian Women?s Club.

Preceding her in death were her husband, James E. Rigby; a sister, Elise Schwartzman; and parents, Robert and Mattie Miller.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. David Cagle and Dr. Victor Priebe officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Fincastle United Methodist Church Cemetery in La Follette, TN.
