Benjamin Jones

It is with deep sorrow and profound respect that we announce the passing of a beloved brother, uncle and friend – Benjamin F. Jones, Jr., age 68, of Fayetteville, NC. He was a devoted family member, loyal friend and distinguished American hero. After a brief but courageous battle with illness over the past several months, he passed away surrounded by the love and gratitude of those whose lives he touched.

Originally from Kingsport, TN, Ben was a proud graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He dedicated his life to the service of his country as a member of the United States Army Special Forces. His military career was marked by extraordinary bravery, unwavering commitment and a deep sense of duty. In recognition of his valor and sacrifice, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Silver Star and the Bronze Star – honors that reflect not only his courage in combat but his steadfast dedication to protecting others.

Beyond his decorated military career, Ben was a man of immense character and heart. He was known for always stepping up when others were in need—whether offering guidance, teaching a new skill or simply lending a helping hand. Ben’s quiet strength, humility and generosity left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

After retiring from active duty, his passion for service never wavered. Ben continued to give back through the operation of his own tactical training company, where he mentored and trained others with the same dedication and excellence that defined his military career.

He found great joy, in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and he cherished the time he spent with family and friends. Those closest to him will remember his loyalty, his wisdom and the way he made others feel supported, capable and valued.

Ben deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of service, sacrifice and compassion will live on in the many lives he touched.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin F. Jones, Sr. and Eula Presley Jones.

Survivors include his sister, Teresa (Tom) Carter; brother, Walter “Barry” (Sherri) Jones; nephew, Gavin Carter; nieces, Kaley (Matt) Franklin, Taylor (Chris Meadows) Jones; great nephew, Drake Beedle; great niece, Sutton Beedle; and many cousins, extended family and close friends.
