Bessie S. Clawson

Bessie S. Clawson, age 76, of Church Hill, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026. Born in Hawkins County to the late Kenneth and Annie Barnette Jarrett, Bessie lived most of her life in Hawkins County. She attended Liberty Hill Elementary school and graduated from Church Hill High school in 1967.

Bessie worked briefly at Eastman Chemical Company, volunteered at Colonial Heights Middle school, and taught ceramics at Eastman Recreation. She loved outdoor activities; water and snow skiing, gardening, mowing the lawn and was active with the Girls and Boys Scouts. Bessie was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. She was active in Missions Children activities and congregational care.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Kenneth and Annie Jarrett; her son, Brandon; in-laws, Alonzo and Edna Clawson; brother, Steve Jarrett; nephew, Matthew Jarrett; and brother-in-law, William C. Morgan.

Bessie leaves behind her husband of 45 years, Billy; daughter, Kimberley Clawson; daughter-in-law, Brittany Clawson; grandsons, Elizah and Noah; sister, Shelby Morgan; sister-in-law, Sue Jarrett; nephew, Steven Jarrett (Canaan); niece, Rhonda Linsenby; great-niece, Morgan Davis; in-laws, L.C. and Judy Clawson; nephew, Mardy (Marlene); and friends in the Betty Crocker group and Red Hats “Fluff & Feathers”.

A Graveside service will take place at 2pm on Monday, February 16, 2026 at Church Hill Memory Gardens with Pastor Craig Needham officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
