Betty Ruth Massey Carter, 79, of Sullivan County, TN, passed away on April 25, 2024 at her daughter’s residence.
Betty was preceded in death by her late husband, Jessie H. Carter; parents, Orville Lee and Cordelia Litz Massey; and brothers, Charles Massey and Freddie Massey.
Those left to cherish Betty’s memory is her daughter, Pamela Cornwell and husband, Joel; her son, David Carter; grandchildren, Brooke and Rebecca Cox; brother, James Massey and wife, Patricia; sisters-in-law, Emma Massey and Marie Robinson; special Aunt, Janice Litz and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Betty’s wishes were to have a graveside service only, with a closed casket. The service will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery, 425 Emory Church Road, Kingsport, TN. Brian Burchfield will hold the graveside service with special music presented by Damon Depew. Those wishing to attend are requested to meet at the cemetery at 10:45 am.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Caris Hospice and nurses, Zonya, Barbara, Christine and Cynthia for their loving care during this difficult time.
