Brenda Bowery

Brenda Gaye Dye Bowery passed away from the realm of this world to Heaven on April 22, 2024 after an extended, hard fought battle with cancer. Brenda was born April 15,1955 in Kingsport. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. Brenda spent a lifetime serving others as a certified nursing assistant and as a waitress in several local restaurants. She enjoyed being a CNA. This joy was evident in the sacrifice and the care she exhibited daily in the care of her patients. She especially enjoyed her private duty nursing years and would ensure the needs of her patients were met, even accomplishing some tasks after hours and sometimes on unpaid time. Brenda will be missed on this earth by family and friends. 

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Beecher and Lois Burgess. 

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Jason Bowery and wife Holly, Shane Vaughn and wife LuLu; three grandsons, Daniel Vaughn, Landon Vaughn, and Kelton Bowery; four granddaughters, Sarah Vaughn, Brooklyn Bowery, Megan Fields and Hannah Boyd; one great-grandson, Emmitt Kelley; one great-granddaughter Isabelle Dearstone; two special cousins who were like sisters, Teresa Rosenbaum and Debbie Winstead. 

Special thanks to the staff of Ballad Health and the Kingsport Cancer Center for their professional and wonderful care during her last days. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 29, 2024 from 5:30 – 6:30pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00am with Brian Grubb officiating, at East Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kingsport Cancer Center for continued support in their fight against this horrible disease, 2202 N. John B. Dennis Hwy #100, Kingsport, TN 37660.
