Buffy Jane Bradley Hayes

On Wednesday, November 26, Buffy Jane Bradley Hayes passed away peacefully. Her family is comforted knowing she rests safely in God’s care.

Buffy was born and raised in Fall Branch, where she was known for her bright smile, big laugh, and friendly, down-to-earth way of meeting the world. She was beautiful inside and out, with a presence that could lift the whole room. She never met a stranger, and she treated everyone with warmth and kindness.

She was an honor student at Davy Crockett High School and a varsity cheerleader. Buffy made school history as the first freshman ever crowned Homecoming Queen for both football and basketball. She was well-liked, fun, and full of natural charm, with a spirit people were drawn to.

As an adult, Buffy worked in a number of restaurants throughout Kingsport, where she was always known as an exceptional server. She was quick, attentive, funny, and thoughtful — the kind of person customers asked for by name and coworkers loved having on their team. She had a real gift for making people feel welcome.

Buffy loved her family deeply, and she was always proud of her children, Baillie and Mason. They were the brightest part of her life.

Her family will remember Buffy as she truly was: full of life, full of warmth, and full of light.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Hayes; children, Baillie Jane Mounger and Mason Shane Mounger (Caitlyn); parents, John Bradley (Vicki) and Carol Fritz (Jim); sisters, Wendy Van Zandbergen (Brad) and Jamie Johnson; aunts, Jeannie Bradley Shelton and Jane Thompson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special childhood friend, Wendy Bruner.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Fall Branch. The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. Wendy Bruner officiating.

Graveside services will be Monday, December 1, 2025, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
