Charles McKinley Johnson

Charles Johnson, 86, of Blountville, departed this life to be with his Lord and his loving wife, on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Hospice House in Bristol. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, he had lived in this area all his life. Charles retired, after several years of service, from Piedmont Airlines and was a member of Wheeler United Methodist Church. He was a hunter, fisherman and golfer; he loved people and always had a smile on his face.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jane Johnson; parents, William McKinley and Katherine Louise (White) Johnson; and a sister, Betty Linkous.

He is survived by two daughters, Alice Johnson and Cindy Smalling; son, Greg Johnson; grandchildren, Anna and Sarah Smalling and sister, Wanda Smyth; several nieces and nephews and Alice’s cat, Guacamole.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Garden of Solomon located at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, Blountville, Tennessee. The service will be officiated by Pastor Ginger Isom and Pastor Chris Brown. Everyone is invited to attend. 

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff on 4-E of Bristol Regional Medical Center for their love and care of Mr. Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wheeler United Methodist Church, 211 N. Sanders Street, Blountville, Tennessee or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 1 Music Circle, Ste. 230, Nashville, Tennessee 37203.
