Charles Jasper Rutledge, age 83, of Blountville, TN, passed away peacefully at his home on May 3, 2025. A lifelong resident of Blountville, Charles was born to the late Thomas J. and Bessie Rutledge.
He was a proud graduate of Holston High School, Class of 1959, and went on to serve his country in the United States Navy. After his service, Charles enjoyed a long and successful career at Eastman Chemical Company, where he worked for 35 years before retiring. Known affectionately by his coworkers as "Two Dogs," he was admired for his good humor.
Charles was a devoted member of Belle Meadows Baptist Church in Bristol, VA. He had a deep love for the outdoors, was an avid hunter, and had a lifelong fondness for dogs.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Kathy A. Rutledge; his sister, Cora Lee Oney; and brothers, George and Frank Rutledge.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Charmane (Jeff) Goforth and Charlette (Keith) Foster; his sister, Ann Lowe; five grandchildren: Dustin Goforth, Whitney (Brian) Castle, Michael Goforth, Austyn Rhea, and Cameron Rhea; and four great-grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by several nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the team at Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
