Charles Glenn Sexton, 84, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Pikeville, KY on November 1, 1941, he was the son of Glenn and Nona Sexton who owned Groseclose Floral Shop. Charles graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, received an Industrial Management degree from Georgia Tech University, and a Master of Science in Business from East Tennessee State University. He went on to have a dedicated career at Eastman Chemical Company for 29 years where he held numerous supply chain operations roles as well as a business lead role for supply chain computer systems upgrades for production planning operation. He also received the APICS certification.
On May 23, 1964, he married the love of his life, Jean Daniel Sexton. Together they raised three children. He was a devoted, patient, and loving father and grandfather.
Charlie was an avid bicycle rider for many years and enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Sevierville. He regularly enjoyed lunch with his friends. He was often complimented on his quick wit and dry sense of humor. Charlie was a member of St. Christopher’s church for many years. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jean Daniel Sexton; his children, Allison Sexton Cregger, Daniel Charles Sexton, and Stephanie Sexton Donelson (Timothy); his five grandchildren, Chase Cregger, Charlie Sexton, Samuel Sexton, Hannah Donelson, and Remington Donelson.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nona Sexton, and father, Glenn Sexton.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2026, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jonathan Hermes officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
