Charles Smith

Charles ?Charlie? Smith, Jr., 55, Kingsport, went to his Heavenly home Saturday, January 20, 2007, following a brief illness.

He was a faithful and loving husband and a friend to all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles and Relda Smith; grandparents, Rosalee and James Smith, and Goldie Heare.

Surviving are his wife of 3½ years, Lisa Smith, Kingsport; one daughter, Carlie Smith, Manassas, Virginia; one son, Joshua Smith, York, Pennsylvania; three step children, Michelle, Tiffani and Daryl McConnell all of Kingsport, one grandchild; two sisters, Kathy Hess and Susan Riviera, both of York, Pennsylvania; two brothers, William Smith, Kingsport, and Paul Smith, York, PA; his mother-in-law, Betty Ratliff, Kingsport, TN; a sister-in-law, Tammie Necessary and fiancé, James Clifton; brothers-in-law, Jeff Ratliff and wife, Mary Ann, Ocala, Florida, Keith Ratliff and wife, Flora, Kingsport; a friend, Lolida, Kingsport; like-a-dad and mom, Jack and Margaret Tuders, Guilde, TN; several nieces and nephews; and his puppy, Rosie, that he considered his baby.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Gary Calhoun officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military rites by Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
