Charles H. “Slick” Stuffle, 92, of Bloomingdale Community, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at NHC Healthcare in Kingsport after a brief illness.
He was born in Kingsport and lived most of his life in this area, graduating from Lynn View High School in 1951. Charles was a member of Vermont UMC and proudly served his country in the United States Army where he often participated in the honor guard during his service. He worked as an over-the-road trucker for Mason Dixon and retired from ABF Trucking. He was a member of Kingsport Moose Lodge #972. In later years, he enjoyed the Mason Dixon breakfast club.
Slick was fun-loving, loved food, loved watching sports, and being with his family. It was a joy to be in his presence. His wish was to make it to 100, but when he asked the doctor, the doctor replied, “probably not”.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, William McKinley and Laura Earsel Ring Stuffle; brother, Bill Stuffle; first wife, Phyllis Bailey (1978); and second wife, Polly Jones.
Charles is survived by his sons, Bill and Joe Stuffle of Kingsport; sisters, Helen Mueller and Nancy Stebbins; stepchildren, Crystal Smith (Mike), Randall Jones (Heather); nieces, Angie Vaughn (Mike), Marcha Childs (George); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12pm – 2pm on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Hamlett Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, with Bro. Tommy Haynes officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:00pm at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family would like to thank the 5th floor doctors and nurses at Holston Valley Medical Center, NHC, and Smokey Mountain Hospice for their excellent care of Slick. And special thanks to H.S. and Barbara Bailey Bellamy for their lifetime friendship and support. Also, a special thank you to Angie Vaughn and the Hopkins family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Petworks Animal Services, 3101 East Stone Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.
