Charlie "Chas" Dean

Charlie “Chas” Dean of Kingsport, passed away at his home on June 12, 2025. Born in Lee County, Virginia, he was the son of Albert and Abbie Coomer Dean and had resided in Southwest Virginia most of his life. Charlie worked hard for 40 years as a coal miner.

Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, one sister; daughters, Machelle Anderson and Rosetta Ramey. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving companion; daughter, Tracy Church (Daniel); son, John Nelson; sisters, Elsie Hall, Reba Marshall (Billy), Myrtle Hubbard and Nannie Dotson; brothers, James Dean (Beverly) and Jay Dean; grandchildren, Tiffany, Diamond Chelsea, Steven, Asia, Charlie, Katie, Marie, Brooklyn, Emma, Elijah and Timothy; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Blountville, Tennessee. A committal service will be held at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Bro. Tim Nelson. Burial will follow in the Garden of Prayer.

The family will serve as pallbearers following the committal service.

It would please the family that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Black Lung Association.
