, With deep sadness but steadfast faith, we announce that Clifton Carl Burnette, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, entered into eternal rest on January 24, 2026. While his passing leaves a profound emptiness, we take comfort in knowing that Carl now abides in the everlasting peace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton James Burnette and Virginia Mae Cooper Burnette, and his sisters, Sylvia Renee Akers and Rita Kay Jessee.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife and soulmate of 25 years, Linda Hawks Burnette; his loving children, Regina Lane (Gary) of Kingsport, TN, Cindy Kelly (Kevin) of Johnson City, TN, Clifton Carl Burnette, Jr. (Amy) of Beaver, WV, James Mitchell Burnette of Salem, VA, Justin Tyler Burnette of Virginia Beach, VA, and Ethan Christian Burnette (Courtney) of Salem, VA; and his dear sister, Connie Burnette of Princeton, WV.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Virginia, at a later date. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and thanksgiving for Carl’s faith filled life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church, 1000 Kendrick Creek Rd, Kingsport, TN 37663, a place that held a special place in Carl’s heart.
Carl’s faith, kindness, and love will live on through all who were blessed to know him. May his soul rest in the eternal peace of Christ, and may his memory be a lasting blessing to all.
