David Daniel Barrett, 83, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2025 after a brief illness. David was born on March 4, 1942 to Ray and Cecile (Simpson) Barrett. He was loved by his family and friends; he never met a stranger. He passed on his love of hunting, fishing, outdoors and his love for the Lord, to his children and grandchildren. David was a man of faith and was active with Calvary Worship Center Church. He worked in the construction industry during his lifetime and retired from both Bradley Brothers Construction Company and the City of Kingsport as a heavy equipment operator. David was also an active member of the Fall Branch Volunteer Fire Department.
David was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Mary Arnold, Marie Barrett, Sissy and RC Barrett.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; four children, Becky Biggs-Parker (Renee), Rodney Barrett (Becky), Billy Barrett (Kim) and Rebecca Rollins “Lil Becky,” (Tim); eight grandchildren, Justin Quillen (Blue), Heather McNutt (Sean), Jake Quillen, Hunter Barrett (Hannah), Wyatt Barrett (Avery), Jesse Rollins, Kenzie Rollins, Kenzie Hall and Waylon Coomer; four great-grandchildren, River, Mason, Willow and Adeline; brother, Joe Barrett; special brother-in-law, Joe Arnold; favorite niece, Anita Goad; honorary son, Tim Mowell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Larry Bledsoe and Hunter Barrett officiating. Graveside services will follow at Bowser Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Barrett, Wyatt Barrett, Jesse Rollins, Kenzie Rollins, Heather McNutt, Eddie Cole, River McNutt and Tim Mowell.
