David Gerald Long

David Gerald Long, 63, Blountville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday afternoon, March 23, 2021, after a lengthy illness.  David was born in Bristol, VA and resided in Blountville.  David was an auto mechanic his entire life. He was a member of APA Pool League, the Greater Tri Cities Darting Association and of the F.O. E. #3274.  David loved his wife, his life, family and gatherings, camping and a good campfire.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Preston Long; grandparents, James and Charmie McClain; uncles, William Clarence (Dub), Garland, Haskel, Gene, Fred and Joe McClain; sister-in-law, Angela Long; and nephew, Jarret Long.

David is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jo “B.J.” Long; daughter, Shannon Poore and husband Brandon, and Valerie Cole; son, Shannon Long; grandchildren, Isaac Lee, Brandon, Jordan, Gabriella and Naomi; mother, Pauline Jones and husband Bob; sister, Diane Byrd and husband Ray; brother, Kirk Long; special niece, Jennifer Gryder; and nephews, Brent and Dustan.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 pm on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Randy Hensley officiating.
