David Virgil Strickler Jr. 84 of Kingsport, TN went to be with the Lord on Sunday June 7th at his residence. He lived in the Fordtown area of Kingsport, TN, his entire life, he graduated from Holston High School and from ETSU with a degree in Chemistry. David worked as a Research Chemist at Eastman Kodak where he retired after 33 years of service. He was a devoted husband and father always willing to volunteer his time to coach his son’s sports teams whether it be basketball, football, baseball or soccer. David enjoyed hunting, gardening, running and riding bikes with family and friends. He loved spending time with and was extremely proud of his grandchildren and supported them in all of their endeavors. He also loved spending time with his beloved fiancée Cookie with whom he had many happy years. David was a long-standing member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church where he had many friends and warm memories.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Rosie Strickler; his brothers, Jim and Jerry; his wife of 55 years Linda (Stidham) Strickler; and his son, Warren.
David is survived by his son Aaron Strickler and wife Jennifer; fiancée Vernita (Cookie) Wyatt; grandchildren, Zach Strickler of Kingsport, Jacob Strickler and wife Chelsey of Bluff City TN, CPT Lukas Strickler, El Paso, TX; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park, Blountville. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Paul officiating.
The family would like to honor David by asking that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Dementia Society of America.
