Dessie Whitaker

Dessie Whitaker, 93, Fall Branch, went to her heavenly home to be with her loving family Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Appalachian Christian Village in Johnson City.

She was a loving and caring person who always made everyone feel welcome and at-home. Dessie was a native of Washington County where she resided her entire life.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Orgie and Martha Alice Whitaker; four sisters, Cathleen and Viola Whitaker, Ethel Cutshall, and Norma Jean Mitchell; and four brothers, Orland, Guy, Otis, and Kenneth Whitaker.

Surviving are two nieces, Carolyn Reed of Fall Branch, Helen Johnson of Harmony Community; several other nieces and nephews; and her family at Appalachian Christian Village ? especially Linda, David, and Jill.

There will be a graveside service Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at Bethesda Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Ray Cutshall officiating.

Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
