Donna Gay Archer Ferguson

Donna Gay Archer Ferguson, age 69, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at NHC Bristol, Virginia, after a twenty-year battle with cancer.

Donna served as the patient spokesperson for the Wellmont Cancer Institute. She was an active member of Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church and the Church's United Methodist Women, where she founded and organized the Holes for Souls golf tournament, which raised money for church missions. She had a passion for sharing her faith with those she came in contact with. Donna was an accomplished seamstress, crocheter, knitter, and banjo picker, which she played at the A.P. Carter Fold.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Ella Mae Archer, and her sister, Kathy Geree Archer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Jeff Ferguson; son, Andrew Warrick; brother, Charles Archer (Pam); stepson, Eric Ferguson (Michelle); grandsons, Drew Warrick and Declan Ferguson; granddaughters, Waverly Warrick, Olivia Ferguson, and Ellie Ferguson; cousin, Floyd "Wayne" Thompson (Pat); and numerous special friends, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, at Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Amos, Sr., officiating. A visitation to follow at the church. A graveside service will take place at 3:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2630 TN-75, Blountville, TN 37617.

In memory of Donna, memorial contributions may be made to Kendricks Creek United Methodist Church, 1000 Kendricks Creek Road, Kingsport, TN 37663.

Pallbearers will be Joe Labarbera, Hunter Jordan, Jason McMurray, Travis White, David Whaley, John O'Dell, and Jordan Weaver.
