Doris Jean (Gray) Helton

Doris Jean (Gray) Helton went to be with the Lord and her husband, Roger Helton, on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at her residence. 

Doris was born in Kingsport, Tennessee on November 20, 1950 to the late William Eugene Gray and Patsy Ward Gray. She graduated from Ketron High School in 1969. She earned her LPN and RN degrees in nursing from ETSU. Doris worked at Holston Valley Hospital, Indian Path Hospital, Bristol Regional Hospital and Johnson City Medical Center. She was an avid fan of the DB Indians and Tennessee Volunteers. 

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Helton (2021) and their fur baby “Jack”. 
She is survived by her son, Todd Shepard (Jeana Clark); special grandson, Conner Cross; and fur baby “Ody”; along with special family and friends, Diana and Rick Sumner, Dwight McNew, Gail Dingus, Carolyn Esley, Marilyn Ward, Lou Ann White and many special friends and family. 

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home. A service will follow with Pastor Will Shewey officiating. Music provided by Oscar Harris.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
