Doris Virginia Summerton

Doris Virginia Summerton, 81, of Church Hill, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 11, 2024. Born and raised in the Washington DC metro area, she later settled down in Church Hill where she spent the remainder of her life. Doris loved to garden, spending time outside. She was a very simple woman who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and also loved animals. Doris had a sweet tooth, and her family would always bring her sweets when they came to visit. She was a fan of old country music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marguerite Jones; and her twin sister, Diane Hite.

Survivors include her children, Garett Summerton, Edward Summerton, Nicolle Summerton-Gross (Michael) and Lynette Cwiak (Christopher); grandchildren, Bryan Summerton, Tori Vaughn (Dylan), Alainna Summerton and Madison Cwiak; niece, Rachell Edwards and great-nephew, Alex Edwards.
