Edith A. Davis

Edith Ann Davis, 82, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 14, 2023. She spent her entire life in Kingsport, meeting the love of her life at a ballgame at Lynn View High School. Once she and Delano married, they spent the next 62 years together, raising a family together. She was proud to be a homemaker and loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren. Edith loved reading, cooking and taking care of her family. She will be missed by her family, friends and her community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hobart and Lonza Lou Gilliam Buchanan; and brother-in-law, Bob Kern.

Survivors include her husband, Delano Lee Davis; daughters, Sharon McCann (Mark) of Bristol, TN, and Teresa Burton (Carlos), of Blountville; grandchildren, Mitchell McCann and Jonathan McCann both of Denver, CO, Christopher Burton of Chicago, IL and Tiffany Burton of Blountville; sister, Darlene Kern of Mt. Vernon, IN; nephew, Steve Kern (Libby) of Mt. Vernon, IN.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bob Underwood officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Holston View Cemetery.
