Elmer D. DeBord, age 90, of Kingsport, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born in Eidson, Tennessee, he had resided most of his life in Kingsport. Elmer was a graduate of Clinch High School and a veteran of the US Army. He had retired from Quebecor World as an electrician. Elmer was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Pearl Richardson DeBord; one sister, Norma DeBord Livesay; three brothers, Kenneth, Dwight and Hugh Kyle DeBord; and three infant siblings.
Elmer is survived by his wife of 64 years, Phyllis DeBord; two daughters, Tonya DeBord and Vicki Gilliam (Richard); one son, Mark DeBord (Katrinka); two granddaughters, Emily Harmon (Brad) and Makenna DeBord; two sisters, Pauline Hopson and Lillie Dickenson; two brothers, Clyde DeBord and Larry DeBord (Wanda); and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. A graveside service will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Travis McKee officiating.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
