Gary Newland Sawyer, Jr.

Gary Newland Sawyer, Jr., age 52, of Blountville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 10, 2024.   Gary was born in Bell County, Texas on September 1, 1971 to Gary and Barbara Sawyer. He as a devout Christian, who served in nursing homes, where he liked to preach. Gary was a kind and loving son, brother and uncle who loved kayaking, and was a passionate Dallas Cowboys fan. Developing a love for it through work, his favorite city in the world was Pikeville, Kentucky. 

Mr. Sawyer was preceded in death by father, Gary Newland Sawyer, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Clyde and Ida Sawyer; and maternal grandparents, James and Maude Moody. 

Gary is survived by his mother, Barbara Hicks; brother, Richard L. Sawyer (Priscilla); nieces, Kara Booke Sawyer and Britney Angel Hill; nephew, Sebastian Rhett Sawyer; aunts, Darlene King (Eddie), Jimmie Lee Salyer (Ron), Carrie Sue Larkins (Terry) and Donna Roop (Terry); uncles, Larry E. Moody (Ginger) and Freddy L. Sawyer (Jeanette); and several cousins. 

A graveside service will take place at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 13, 2024 at Hamlett Dobson Memorial Park, Blountville with Pastor Bob Ferguson officiating.
