Glenna Moneyhun Herron, 85, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Glenna was cherished by all who knew her. She was a woman of strong Christian faith and a lifelong member of Parker's Chapel Church. For many years, she found great joy and purpose in singing with the Moneyhun Quartet, where her passion for music became a heartfelt way to share the gospel. Glenna's love for her family and her unwavering faith in God were the cornerstones of her life.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Cecil Herron; her parents, Richard and Annie Moneyhun; and brothers Harvey, Wayne, and infants, Bobby and Elmer.
Glenna is survived by her son, Jay Herron and wife Shannon of Kingsport; her daughter, Melissa Ross and husband Dwayne of Fall Branch; grandchildren, Jessica, Angela, Chelsea, Misty, Amber, Michael, and Melissa; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Dan, JC (Tommy), Billy Moneyhun, and Clifford (Bud) Cole and sisters Susie Williams and Joan Doran.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Parker's Chapel Church, located at 425 Parker Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee, 37660. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m., by Pastor Chris Castle and Pastor Gary Calhoun. The Moneyhuns will provide music for the service.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Kingsport Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Dwayne Ross, Justin Shaffer, Tyler Childers, Will Fugate, Michael Ross, and Justin Riggs. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Moneyhun, JC (Tommy) Moneyhun, Billy Moneyhun, and Clifford Cole.
Glenna will be deeply missed by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her legacy of faith, love, and kindness continue to inspire those who carry her memory in their hearts.
