Harold K. Lawson

II Timothy 4:7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that daya€"and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Our precious dad, Harold K. Lawson, 85, spent his first worship service in heaven on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Dad was born in Scott County, Virginia to the late Rufus Lawson and Hassie Roller Lawson. He spent the majority of his life in Kermit, Virginia before moving to Church Hill. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He retired from Barger Leasing as a truck driver.
Dad had attended Greenvale Baptist Church for several years but had been attending First Baptist Church in Church Hill until his illness prevented him from going. He loved the Lord and being in church. Dad never knew a stranger. He loved to talk and would keep you rolling in laughter with his sense of humor. He was known for his sweet potatoes and watermelons and was always ready to share from his garden.
For the past 18 ½ years, since the death of his beloved wife, he took on the role of mom/dad to his girls and mammaw/papaw to his grandson. He never failed to say I love you and stay safe.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye Click Lawson; brother, Cecil Lawson; sister, Joyce Sama; nieces, Sissy Sama, Bobbi Smith and Rhonda Powers; and nephew, Scott Lawson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters, Sharon (Randy) Price of Mt. Carmel, Lisa Lawson Wilcox of Blountville, and grandson, Heath Price of Mt. Carmel (who was his pride and joy); sister, Wilma (June) Henry of Kingsport; brother, Lowell (Karen) Lawson of Macon, GA; several nieces and nephews; and his granddaughters of the heart, Pam Lane and Angel Dockery.
A special thanks to his wonderful caregivers, Simone Edwards, Pam Lane, Margaret Smith and Leah and Phil Robinson, for their love and care over the past year.
The family will receive family and friends from 6-8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, and at any time at the home. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 pm with Rev. Gary Gerhardt and Pastor Joe Shelton officiating.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm at Liberty Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Posts 3/265.
Pallbearers will be Heath Price, Michael Sama, Joe Horton, David Horton, Lynn Lawson, Tim Anderson, Randy Huffman and Tony Click. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Men's Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
Dad had a special love for children. In lieu of flowers we ask that memorial donations be made to Grace Point Fellowship, P.O. Box 6629, Kingsport, TN 37663, designated to Gomer Williams (African Missions), or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
