Harriet Patricia Chapman

Harriet Patricia Chapman, 81, of Kingsport, passed away peacefully late Sunday evening, June 22, 2025. Born and raised in this area, she attended Sullivan High School and married the love of her life, John Wayne Chapman and started her family. Harriet loved to can vegetables and make jellies and jams. She also enjoyed crocheting and was active in her church, Kingsport First Assembly of God for many years. Harriet was known as a social butterfly, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Harriet was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John Wayne Chapman; sons, Ronnie Chapman and Mark Chapman; and siblings, Wilma, Marie, Shirley, Kenneth and Linda.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa Harkleroad; grandchildren, Kristin Kochensparger (Patrick) and Jacob Harkleroad; great-grandchildren, Graycen Harkleroad, Raylan Steadman and a soon to be born baby boy; step great-grandchildren, Jordan, C.J. and Ethan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Life Care Center of Gray and her roommate, Alma.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Kestner officiating.

Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park, with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
