Helen Emma Porter

Helen Porter, age 91, passed away in Bristol, Tennessee, near her family, where she had made her home for the past several years.

Born and raised in Ithaca, New York, Helen spent 89 years in the community she loved. She spent much of her life on the Porter Family Farm on Snyder Hill Road and was a dedicated manager at Woolworth Department Store, where she worked for more than 30 years.

Helen was preceded in death by her life partner, Hunna Johns; her son, Kenny Porter; her sister, Christine Caveney; and her brother, Charlie Waite.

Helen is survived by her son, David Porter; his children, Shawn Porter (Jayna), Cory Porter (Amanda), and Tracy Porter; ten great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and Debbie Porter. She is also survived by the children of her late son, Kenny, Kenny Porter Jr. and Timothy Porter, along with their families. In addition, Helen leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

The family will receive friends during calling hours on Monday, July 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Bangs Funeral Home in Ithaca, New York.
