Herley J. "Hud" Phillips

Herley J. "Hud" Phillips, (86), of Kingsport, went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday, May 19, 2014.

Hud was born August 7, 1927, son of the late John T. and Ina B. Barrett Phillips, he worked for the General Shale Corporation for 48 years. He enjoyed 20 years of retirement and loved to laugh often.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Phillips and son, Ronald Phillips.

Hud is survived by his children, Roger and wife, Judy, Marie and husband, Richard, Marlene Scalf, Gordon and wife, Sherry, Mark and wife, Michele; grandsons, Matthew, Chris, Josh and Heath; granddaughters, Amanda, Savannah, Kayla and Katlin; great-granddaughters, Judy, Taylor, Avery, Fiona, and Luci; great-grandson Noah, sisters, Hazel Carr, and Shirley Sirrekia; and a host of other family members.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Fall Branch, or any time at the home. The service will follow at 8 pm with Pastor Randy Waller officiating.

Graveside services will be on Thursday at 1 pm at Lone Star Cemetery.
