Irene Pierce Snapp

Irene Pierce Snapp, Age 95, passed away peacefully at her home on July 25, 2023, surrounded by her family.  A native of Kingsport, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late David C. and Mary Boyer Pierce. Irene was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family.  She was a graduate of Sullivan High School.  After her children left for college, she started working at Dobyns-Taylor Hardware and continued working there until the store closed.  She was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church the majority of her adult life.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Lisa Fuller and son, C. Wesley Snapp; two granddaughters, Alicia Fuller, Washington D.C. and Deonna Darling (Travis), Kingsport; two brothers, John Tom Pierce and C. Wayne Pierce and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Snapp, her five sisters; Kate Witt, Ruth Moore, Vesta Alecock, Iva Riggs and Winifred Townsend; and one brother, David C. Pierce, Jr.

The family would like to thank her special caregivers; Donna Hyatt, Tracy Mountcastle, Janie McCarty and Rachel Hawkins for the loving care they showed our mother.

There will be a graveside service for family and friends at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Pierce Family Cemetery, 1712 Whispering Hills Drive.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Broad Street United Methodist Church or Petworks Kingsport Animal Shelter.
