Janell Ann (Jan) Boyd, 85, of Mt Carmel, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. She was born on July 30, 1940, in Oelwein, IA to Paul and Nellie Olinger, the 4th of 5 children. She moved to California in 1961 where she met her husband, Bob, and welcomed daughter, Shelli. The family moved to Tennessee in 1965. Jan worked in banking for 30 years, retiring from First Tennessee Bank in 1995. In her spare time, she designed and sold collectible coin banks in the shape of miniature antique cars manufactured by the ERTL company and used them to raise money for various organizations in the community. While retired, she opened a store featuring other collectibles and rare toys on Broad Street in Kingsport. She was heavily involved in establishing support groups for Alzheimer patients and their caregivers and was a founding board member of Madison House in Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jim, sisters Joan and Janet; and brothers-in-law John McInerney and Bill Moine.
Jan is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Bob Boyd; daughter Shelli Neuhoff, son-in-law Geoff; grandson Benjamin; sister Linda Moine; sister-in-law Marlene Olinger; brother-in-law Leonard Smith; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Dominic Catholic Church. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm with Father Michael Cummins officiating. A reception will follow the service in the parish life center.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care and support Jan received from Holston Rehab, Gentiva Hospice and Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home.
